This is a list of trials on the ANZCTR that indicate they opened for participation in the past fortnight:

Sleepwell: A Trial to Improve Sleep During Chemotherapy for Breast Cancer. This trial is looking for 80 women with primary breast cancer with an appointment for chemotherapy at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne.
DCB-DM101 in Participants with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This phase 1 trial at Adamstown, NSW, is looking for 24 men and women aged 20-80 diagnosed with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled.
Effects of exercises for the low back muscles on disability in people with chronic low back pain. This trial in Brighton, Vic, is looking for 94 men and women aged 18-65 reporting recurrent low back pain with or without pain radiating into the lower limbs for at least three months.
Psychological Coaching for Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacements. This trial in WA is looking for 150 men and women aged 18 or older on a waitlist to undergo a total knee arthroplasty.
SNAKES: a pilot trial of Jelly Snakes to prevent postoperative Nausea and Vomiting in Kids after ENT Surgery. This trial at 4 centres in Perth, WA, is looking for 240 male and female patients aged 2-16 able to eat a jelly snake and having elective tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy.
Evaluation of the clinical performance of multifocal orthokeratology contact lenses in young healthy adults. This trial at UNSW, Sydney, NSW is looking for 40 men or women aged 18-40 with specific eye characteristics.
Assessment of pain in patients with advanced cancer using physical activity monitor readings. This trial is looking for 20 men or women aged 18 or older with advanced cancer who are patients at Mater Misericordiae Ltd or St Vincent's Private Hospital, Brisbane.
The anti-anginal effect of Zibotentan in the Coronary Slow Flow Phenomenon (CSFP). This trial at the The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, SA, is looking for 50 men or women aged 18 or older with a specific heart condition.
Vasopressor dependent shock: Intravenous vitamin C versus placebo on vasopressor use. The VALENCIA study. This trial at 2 Perth hospitals, WA, is looking for 70 men or women aged 18 or older requiring significant vasopressor support due to any cause of systemic inflammatory response.
An open label dose-finding, safety and tolerability study of Panitumumab, Irinotecan, Trifluridine/Tipiracil in RAS wild-type patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. This trial at 3 Adelaide centres and 1 Brisbane centre is looking for 60 men or women aged 18 or older with a histological diagnosis of colorectal cancer that is RAS/BRAF wild type

To Improve Treatments, Researchers Want To Hunt For Clues In Medical Records. While this is a US-based article, with the current uproar in Australia about "My Health Record" (MHR), we thought we would throw this article into the mix. We strongly support the idea of the Australian My Health Record system, but think there needs to be careful thought around the privacy, security, access and consent issues. Hopefully government agencies will get this sorted appropriately so MHR can realise its potential. We've started a conversation about this in our Research Gamechangers Facebook Group, so why not join in and tell us what you think about this.
ResearchInvolvement: Taking patient reported outcomes centre stage in cancer research – why has it taken so long? This article is a little challenging to read, but it does propose suggestions for why more patient reported outcome data may not be being collected right now.
Evolving Patient-Researcher Collaboration: An Illustrative Case Study of a Patient-Led Knowledge Translation Event. This paper describes a patient-led collaboration in rheumatology, in the context of an established patient-researcher partnership.
Clinical trials from the patient perspective: survey in an online patient community. This article was published last year, but we think it is worth sharing as a nice insight from the participant perspective of clinical trials.
